since they were forced out of the shrinking forest in the 1980’s, the Aché have lived in squalid villages filled with government-built shacks on the outskirts of the majestic forest where they used to make their home. Claudia is the first girl from her village to ever attend high school, and the future of her people rests in her ability to get an education and bring some of that wisdom back into her community.
